The Battle of Yorktown was when the colonies, now states, gained their independence from England. This didn`t effect the children much, but it did effect how they lived. The news papers were filled with war stories and victories and loses. The children `s parents may or may have had interest or strong political veiws on the war. If they did, the children`s lives would be very different. If the children`s parents had strong political views on the war, the children would hear yelling and ranting. Most of the adults in Great Britain, along with the king, thought that the Caribbean territories were worth more than America. Even though they had the Caribbean territories, losing America meant losing a lot of British territory.
